Smart Chic Olena - NRHA Three Million Dollar Sire [04.06.2005]

In May the National Reining Horse Association annouced that Smart Chic Olena has become Three Million Dollar Sire. This son of Smart Little Lena and out of Gay Sugar Chic by Gay Bar King, enjoyed a successful career as a show horse in NRHA competition. With Craig Johnson in the saddle he became the 1993 Open Reserve World Champion. Before entering the NRHA show pen, he was a winner in National Cutting Horse Association competition as well, accumulating more than 110 000 USD in earnings.

In AQHA competition, Smart Chic Olena's offspring have earned almost 15 000 points, 10 world championships, and 18 reserve world championships. In NCHA and NRCHA combined earnings, his offspring have earned over 3 000 000 USD.

His highest money-earning offspring to date is Smart Spook - the 2004 NRHA Open Futurity Champion and 2005 NRHA Derby Chmpion with Shawn Flarida. Other NRHA standouts include Smartest Chic Olena (112 771,50 USD), Chic Please (108 085,01 USD), Chocolate Chic Olena (78 868,25 USD), Commandalena (74 836,95 USD), Rowdy Yankee (72 319,95 USD), Smokin Chic Olena (62 229,57 USD), Peppy Chic Olena (58 584,83 USD), and Paid By Chic (50 469,70 USD).

We are proud that among his offspring there is our stallion Smart Chiconita, who, as NRHA Money Earner, also contributes to the successes of Smart Chic Olena.

In recent interviews for "Reiner" and for the Polish Reining Horse Association, Shawn Flarida (USA) and Oliver Stein (Germany) agreed that Smart Chic Olena is their favourite reining sire. "The Chics I've ridden have a lot of similarities. They have personalities. They're good horses at home and better in the show pen" - said Flarida. "I'm a big fan of Chics. All horses by Smart chic Olena that I had the opportunity to ride are the same good movers, really athletic, good minded and very smart, with a lot talent" - added Stein.

Clinic with Zuzana Pacesova [20.04.2005]

After the visit of Maik Bartmann, together with the WRC CR, we hosted another reining clinic on April 16-17. This time it was conducted by Zuzana Pacesova (Slovakia), a long time assistant trainer of Vern Sapergia. Sapergia's training methods are considered as being very effective and are very appreciated by reining enthusiasts.

Zuzka Pacesova is one of the best Slovak riders and trainers. She is a multiple Slovakia reining champion, winner of the NRHA Bronze Trophy in Limited Open division. She is competing not only in Slovakia and Austria but also in Germany - in March she was in Kreuth for the Osterturnier.

The clinic consisted of 13 horse and rider combinations, along with a large audience not only from Czech Rep. but also from Slovakia and Poland. Zuzka explained Sapergia's "ABC" training program which emphasizes on putting strong basics to every horse, whether a green 2-year-old or an aged horse. The riders worked on improving horses' collection, balance and such reining maneuvers as spins, sliding stops and flying lead changes.

We would like to thank Zuzka for coming to Celadna and sharing her knowledge with us. We hope that we will all meet soon during another clinic or at next show.

Clinic with Maik Bartmann in Celadna [22.03.2005]

On Saturday and Sunday, 19-20 March, the Prosper Horse Ranch in Celadna hosted a reining clinic conducted by a well-known German trainer - Maik Bartmann. It was a huge success - the clinic wass fully booked as soon as the organizers - Paint Horse s.r.o. and WRC CR - announced it. So, those who were late could only participate as spectators. There was a total of 13 horse and rider combinations and a lot of spectators, not only from Czech Rep., but also from Slovakia.

There was no time to waste. We were working whole day, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. And even after, we were talking with make late in the evening. The clinic gave us a lot of new knowledge and during those two days our horses made a lot of progress. Maik spent a great amount of time with each horse and rider and was willing to help everyone. Not only riders but also spectators actively participated in the clinic by asking questions. There was no problem with communication thanks to Petr Julina and his perfect translation into Czech.

We would like to thank Maik Bartmann, Petr Julina and all the participants. We hope that everyone liked the clinic and already look forward to meeting again.

Klara Salkova

Second clinic with Klara in Poland [27.02.2005]

Three months after the first western riding clinic, the Polish Reining Horse Association hosted on February 19-20 a second event conducted by the multiple Czech reining champion - Mrs. Klara Salkova. This time the clinic was held at the “Galop” facility, 20 km from Warsaw.

The “Galop” horse riding club was founded in 1992. This very nice facility offers not only horse riding but also a hotel and a restaurant. It’s also the very first Polish “horse theater”, presenting the history of Poland, basing on a film called “A Millenium of Polish Cavalry”.

The clinic consisted of 8 horse and rider combinations and a large spectator audience. We started with reminding the basics of all-around western training: head carriage, balance, collection, proper response to leg cues and reins. Then we introduced some new elements, as turnarounds, sliding stops and rollbacks. We spent a lot of time on correct lope departure.

We were very pleased to see that during the three months between the two clinics, the participants took time to work with their horses, using the methodes learned in November. We wish good luck to those of them who will participate in western riding shows in the forthcoming season. We hope that this clinic will allow all of you to enjoy your horses much more.

Clinic in Horka

Western riding clinic in Horka [02.02.2005]

On January, 29-30, the Lovecka Chata in Horka hosted a western riding clinic for youth riders, conducted by Klara Salkova. The clinic consisted of 9 horse and rider combinations. They were divided into two groups and they were working for three hours on Saturday and two hours on Sunday. Klara showed them the basics of western riding and also introduced some reining elements. Considering that it was freezing cold (from -8 to -11), a big respect goes to all the riders and horses, their parents and the trainer. Thanks to the great indoor arena in Horka, to Mr. Sedlacek's hospitality and the helping hand of Veronika Jahodova, we managed to overcome the bad weather and we are already looking for next clinic.

New reining footing in the main arena [23.01.2005]

We started the New Year by solving a vital problem for our ranch - the footing at the main arena. After negotiations with Prosper Trading (owners of the ranch), we started changing the footing. Now we will prepare a high quality reining ground. The sand was taken out from the arena and a layer of loam was laid down on the ground. A layer of sand will be put on top.
