Since 1969 NRHA has rewarded the efforts of reiners with the most enviable trophy in the performance horse industry - the bronze trophy. The NRHA bronze trophy represents a horse and rider combination executing the most exciting reining maneuver - the sliding stop.
The first bronze trophy was awarded to the winner of the 1969 NRHA Futurity - Miss Sue Skip ridden by Dean Smith. When it became available to Open and Non Pro riders in the early 70's, it created enourmous excitement - everyone wanted to have one. In 1979 NRHA contracted Mr. Mehl Lawson to create a special Futurity trophy. In 1982 Lawson was once again contacted. He created a totally new trophy. In 1990, Mr. C. R. Morrison was called upon to create an additional trophy. In 2004 both artists were asked to up-date their original trophies. Mr. Morrison brought the horse's front feet down on the ground, made them looser in the shoulder to reflect today's sliding stop standards.
For the first time in Czech Rep. and Central Europe, in Celadna riders will compete for one Morrison Bronze Trophy in the 1000 added NRHA Open class and two Pewter trophies in Non Pro and Intermediate Open. There will also be 4 NRHA plaques for the winners of Youth 13 & under, Youth 14-18, SBH Open and SBH Non Pro.
